Schisandra Benefits

The Schisandra benefits, Schisandra chinensis, may not evident when looking at this common garden shrub, a type of Magnolia vine. Native to Eastern Asia, the Chinese have used the berries of the Schisandra plant for their calming benefits, as well as for the ability to increase stamina, concentration and focus. Strangely, it is used as both a stimulant and a calming agent.

The Chinese still prescribe it for things such as:

Research has been done on animals with Schisandra and there is strong evidence suggesting that it has properties that protect against skin cancer.
