Growing Valerian

I am looking to grow valerian, and purchase dried valerian root as a cure for insomnia, I am already using Dr Stuarts valerian plus T bags which work very well, however I am looking to grow this herb.

1: Any tips on growing from seed.
2: Where can I purchase dried valerian root.

Hi Ron,

You should be able to get valerian at most garden centers in UK, I bought some in Plymouth years ago but know that it is fairly readily available here in Ireland, if they don't have any in stock ask the staff to order some in for you, it's generally found in the shrub section but you can get smaller pots in with the herbs. You need to try find out why you need it and if you go to a registered herbalist you will get a better combination of herbs, I have found some of my clients get an after effect from too much valerian where they are still tired in the morning so then I simply adjust the herbs in their particular formula.

One of the problems with growing Valerian is that when cultivated, it's much less effective. The best results you'll get from wild harvest Valerian. Also, if you're growing it yourself you're going to have to process it yourself. While not DIFFICULT persay, it's not all that simple a task either.

If I could suggest something that might help with your insomnia, try Serene, it worked pretty well for me. You can read about it a bit [url="http://www.natural-sleeping-pill.net/Reviews.html"]here[/url] and purchase it through a link on the site, that's what I did. Never slept better.
