Creating Your Bathwomb
Creating Your Bathwomb by Ananda Wilson
Some of us immerse ourselves in work or intellectual endeavors. Some of us are more reclusive and decide to withdraw into less socializing and more time in the Hot Bathtub (or as I like to call it - the Bathwomb). There are many ways of coping, such as suggested in Susun Weeds beautiful article on handling depression the Wise Woman Way.
Sometimes, the difference between a regular bath tub and creating your own BathWomb, is taking a few simple steps to sanctify your space and allow for something ritual or magic.
Our senses have a lot to do with experiencing pleasure. If we treat our senses in healthy, loving ways, we treat our spirit with kindness and love. TOUCH Create loving ways to feel touch. Make a simple body scrub with fine cornmeal, honey, ground oats and lavender, orange peels,....whatever you have around the kitchen. Grind it up in a blender and give yourself a renewing polish before you bath. (don't pick stuff that with clog your drain though..)
SMELL Some scents that are known for turning a frown upside down are essential oils of Orange, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Lavender, Clary Sage, Peppermint, Vetiver, Neroli, Basil, Rose. Add just a couple drops to your body scrub so your brain waves begin to lift and soften while you are scrubbing. Make a simple after bath oil for soothing your skin, olive oil or herbal oil, and add a couple drops of your happy essential oil!
SIGHT A space where our spirits lift is a space that allows the brain room to see beauty. It doesn't have to be impeccably clean. It just has to include some clear space where the spirit can feel like it has room to breathe... and some items that feel supportive to your being. Set up things in your BathWomb that are for you ~ a goddess statue, several candles, a favorite poem or affirmation, a good book or magazine, a bundle of dried herbs or a live plant, your favorite towel and washcloth. A fancy bottle and a pretty soap.
SOUND Play music! Sing or chant to yourself! Hum, cry, pant, make sound. Get all your worries out with your voice. Listen to chakra music or celtic lullabys, anything that gives you sound nourishment while you soak. TASTE Why Not? Why not give yourself something wonderful to taste while you bathe. Something uplifting like hot milk with honey, oatstraw infusion, crystallized ginger pieces, panda licorice bites, something lovely and delicious like rose petal jelly on pecans whip cream on pitted dates ~ but not something that will make your blood sugar level go all wonkey! We don't want to exacerbate the situation!
And I am convinced that a sixth sense is THOUGHT A combination of intellect and emotion. Give yourself an intent - a positive thought - a focus or reason for entering your BathWomb.
Give your spirit good thought food. But be sure to take it with you as support, not a demand. Take your time....
Who wants to rush Love? Healing? Magic?
Give it room to happen!
