Alternative and Herbal Approaches to Arthritis

There are a variety of natural and herbal remedy approaches to dealing with arthritis. In most cases, the affects of arthritis can be reversed, reduced, and sometimes completely eliminated in time.

An herbal approach to treating arthritis is much like the herbal approach to many other diseases and health conditions. It's important to treat the entire body for the problem, because many health problems are actually caused by deeper issues that aren't readily apparent from the symptoms people are experiencing.

The first step towards naturally healing and strengthening your body is usually to do a full body detox. Detoxifying your body means you'll be helping the body to clean out excess toxins, pollutants, bacteria, germs, parasites and more as quickly as it can. By quickly cleaning these problems out of the body, every organ and tissue is able to devote time and energy into repairing, recovering, and healing itself.

A full body detox is often done with the use of colon cleansing and irrigation flushes, combined with either a juice fast diet or a real food diet, combined with specific herbs that help the body cleanse and heal. Many of the herbs used for detoxing also help the liver, kidneys, and colon flush liquid and solid wastes out faster, so the excess harmful toxins can be removed as quickly as possible.

Not everyone likes the idea of doing a colon cleanse via irrigation and enemas of course, so some people choose to use herbs and dietary changes alone. This approach works just as well, but it can sometimes take a little longer to see the positive results.

Herbs and herbal remedies can also be used to treat the symptoms of arthritis, but realize that treating the symptoms will not actually take care of the actual cause of those symptoms. So relief is temporary, and your condition will usually worsen over time.

White willow is an herbal remedy used to control pain and inflammation. This herb is actually what modern day aspirin was based on originally, and newer NSAIDs and anti-inflammatory drugs are based on this as well. White willow is a natural pain reliever which reduces swelling and inflammation without harmful side effects. It can be taken orally in pill form, plus it can be mixed with aloe vera juice and rubbed onto the painful joints.

Burdock is an excellent herb often used for treating advanced cases of several forms of arthritis, because it helps reduce the swelling of joints and knuckles. It also helps break down calcification and other types of bone deposits commonly found in many types of arthritis.

Burdock is an herb which helps cleanse the lymphatic system, bladder and kidneys, and moves toxins out of the body. This herb is also high in niacin and Vitamin C.

Comfrey will help relieve pain, stiffness and swelling in the joints. If the arthritis is caused by injuries, swelling and inflammation, comfrey will also help heal those issues. Just apply it externally to the affected areas.
