Gentian

Gentian Gentiana lutea

This extremely bitter herb is used to improve digestion, relieve flatulence, and stimulate the gallbladder and liver.

It is also a powerful antioxidant.

By stimulating the action of the stomach, many symptoms associated with a weak digestion such as gas, indigestion, and poor appetite are relieved.

Improving stomach secretions helps to increase the absorption of nutrients. Gentian aids the absorption of a wide range of nutrients, including iron and vitamin B12, and is therefore useful for iron-deficiency anemia.

The herb also acts as a stimulant on the gallbladder and liver, encouraging them to function more efficiently.

Gentian is useful in almost any condition where the digestive system needs toning.

The root is used medicinally in capsules and as bitters.

CAUTIONS: Use with extreme care if you are pregnant or have high blood pressure.
