Eyebright

Eyebright Euphrasia officinalis (Snapdragon Family)

This herb tightens the mucous membranes of the eye and is used to to relieve the inflammation of conjunctivitis and blepharitis.

Due to its ability to counter mucous, it is is often used for infectious and allergic conditions affecting the eyes, middle ear, sinuses, and nasal passages.

This herb has anti-inflammatory, astringent properties and is widely used for eye strain and inflammations as well as weeping eyes, itching eyes, and runny nose.

It is useful in treating colds,

allergies, sinusitis and nasal congestion.

Aerial parts are used in compresses and eyedrops.
